Clanculus pharaonius Family : Trochidae The Clanculus pharaonius is a tropical marine small gastropod of the Indopacific, Red Sea included. Herbivorous species, it grazes at modest depth on rocks and corals nibbling algae and debris. The 13-15 mm shell is thick and robust, as tall as its length, densely granulated with whiny red studs. Among these stands out an elegant spiral drawing directed towards the apex formed by black studs regularly spaced by 2-3 white ones. A real jewel, worthy of a pharaoh, that by sure cannot leave the collectors indifferent for its elegant sculpture and colors © Giuseppe Mazza → To appreciate the biodiversity within the MOLLUSCS please click here.
