A variety with over double the flowers of the Rosa foetida , with deep golden yellow petals and a slightly unpleasant perfume.
Joseph Pernet-Ducher succeeded in crossing it with a Hybrid Tea rosebush, and from successive hybridisations with the Rosa foetida bicolor , he obtained, in 1900, ‘Soleil d’or’, with amber shades, and in 1910, the enchanting pure yellow of ‘Rayon d’or’.
These colours would later become common in the roses of our gardens.
