Cymbiola imperialis Family : Volutidae The Cymbiola imperialis is an elegant marine gastropod present in the Sulu Sea, in the south-western zone of the Philippines Islands. The shell, 10-25 cm tall, distinguishes for the numerous robust spines on the shoulder that surround the small spires of almost hemispheric shape. Their number, as well the drawings and the colour, are fairly variable. It loves the muddy or sandy seabeds on which moves quickly while hunting mollusks, usually bivalves, that wraps with the big muscular foot but does not disdain, when is the case, to gnaw even dead fishes and other corpses © Giuseppe Mazza → To appreciate the biodiversity within the MOLLUSCS please click here.
