Polymita picta Family : Helminthoglyptidae The Polymita picta is an arboreal terrestrial gastropod endemic to Cuba. The shell measures about 2 cm and is characterized by an extreme variability in colours as as can be readily seen in this photo. Insufficient hermaphrodite species cannot self fecundate. As usual in the Superfamily of Helicoidea, the genital apparatus is provided of a known calcareous dart for catching and stimulating the partner during the mating.
