Polyommatus escheri Family : Lycaenidae Due to the bright blue of males and the opaque brown of females the Escher’s blue (Polyommatus escheri) is often confused with congeneric species. On verso, it shows a bluish halo on the body and at the base of wings. It flies in flowered and sunny hilly meadows. It is present in south-western Europe with isolated populations, never numerous © Giuseppe Mazza → For general notions about the Lepidoptera please click here. → To appreciate the biodiversity within the BUTTERFLIES please click here.
