Naria lamarckii Family : Cypraeidae Known also as Erosaria lamarckii, the Naria lamarckii is a splendid and unusual cowry of the Indian Ocean that loves the sandy bottoms and the mangroves. The shell usually measures little less than 4 cm, with a minimum of 18 mm and a maximum of 51 mm. Its greatest value is the splendid white dotting, at times with a small grey-light blue dot inside, on an orange brown background. The mantle covering the shell is not less elegant and unusual, with long and well ramified papillae that closing grant the animal the look of a small unusual hedgehog © Giuseppe Mazza → To appreciate the biodiversity within the MOLLUSCS please click here.
